The cardy is a persistent species, However, it is only grown as a vegetable as an annual and is always grown from seeds.
It is closely related to the artichoke and has the same requirements in terms of climate and soil. Only climatically favorable locations as well as deeply cultivated ones, moist and nutrient-rich soil with a high humus content are suitable for cultivation. Cardy therefore belongs to the 1st costume and claims the land from May to November.
