autogenic trainingAutogenic training is a relatively common technique of self-relaxation, which is used by many people with great success, to successfully survive stressful phases and situations. Translated, the term "autogenous" means something like "out of itself". The word is of Greek origin, goes back to the Berlin neurologist and psychotherapist Professor Johann Heinrich Schultz, who developed this technique as a middle ground between tension and relaxation.

Autogenic training is usually learned in a course, so that persons, who master this technique, they can call up later in everyday life, when you need that special kind of relaxation.

You learn with autogenic training, to mentally distance oneself from the environment and to concentrate entirely on the inner world of experience, where you can find peace and relaxation in every situation. Using autosuggestive methods, the procedure can create relaxation, if the external circumstances would actually cause tension.

Since stress can also make people unable to act, it has proven to be very useful, especially in professional practice, to increase their performance and stress tolerance in this way and at the same time to improve their subjective perception of disturbing situations.

autogenic training (or later also the autogenic exercises) are always performed in a relaxed posture. In addition to autosuggestive self-relaxation, the exercises also include various measures, aimed at muscle relaxation and physical support for mental relaxation. The aim is to achieve a positive change in bodily functions that cannot actually be influenced, which often succeeds surprisingly well with the exercises. Even if autogenic training is more likely to be assigned to concentration-enhancing measures than to classic wellness, this method is well suited, for relaxation and rest (and thus also well-being and a better body feeling) to reach.
