Winter lettuce is best planted around the first half of October 10 cm deep grooves, which run in an east-west direction.

In the grooves, the winter lettuce plants are primarily protected against wind influences, that increase perspiration. However, the grooves must be at least 10 cm wide, so that the plants can develop freely next spring. Incidentally, this is to be observed in relation to the planting depth, what was said under advice. A plant spacing of 20cm x 20cm is sufficient for winter lettuce.
