The design is the same, but no heating cassette is like the other down to the millimetre, each one is custom made. That is why absolute accuracy is important when measuring the combustion chamber. First, the width and height are measured at the front and, in the case of fireplaces that are open at the side like this one, also on the side, then the depth and the back width. In most fireplaces, the firebox has a trapezoidal base, and of course that has to be taken into account.
The dimensions determined do not yet indicate the final size of the cassette; it should be all around 1 to 2 have cm of air, because the material expands when heated. Of course, the thickness of the insulation layer must also, which is additionally installed here, are taken into account.
Measuring errors can be expensive, if the ordered heating cassette does not fit. Therefore it is advisable, to leave this work to the supplier, if you want to do the installation later yourself.
1 Als erstes wird die Klappe ausgebaut, with which the air flow could previously be throttled. The whole firebox and the chimney – as far as possible – vacuum thoroughly.
2 Das gesamte Material steht bereit. There must be enough freedom of movement around the fireplace for at least two people, who insert the cassette later. She weighs at a size of 60 x 50 x 50 cm about 80 Weight!
3 Die Dämmung, which is necessary on the back wall of the firebox, is pressed loosely against the wall and adheres to the rough surface. Rock wool is suitable, because it is heat resistant.
4 Nun kann die Kassette vorsichtig eingeschoben und ausgerichtet werden.
5 Die Fugen zwischen der Kassette und den Feuerraumwänden müssen sorgfältig mit Steinwolle geschlossen werden, so that later no soot particles can fall from the chimney into the cavity. They ignite easily when it is hot and could cause a chimney fire.
6 Mit breitem, The joints between the side panels and the masonry are sealed with self-adhesive sealing tape made of ceramic fibre.
7 Für den breiten Schlitz zwischen Tragrahmen des Kamins und Kassette eignet sich Dichtungsschnur besser. It is compressible and adapts to irregularly shaped joints. Larger holes are closed with a fireclay plate, which is cut to fit and used with a heat-resistant quick tie.
8 Die Heizkassette muss genau lot- and be aligned horizontally. There are adjustable feet under the rear part of the cassette for this purpose, which can be turned from the inside. The cassette is correct, if the door closes slightly by itself after opening.
9 Die schmale Fuge an der Unterkante wird mit einer hitzebeständigen Versiegelung abgedichtet. For optical reasons, the sealing cords can also be covered with it.
10 Die Feuerprobe zeigt, if everything is correct. When the cassette heats up for the first time, a whitish mist forms, because a protective coating burns in. Ventilating well helps – after a few hours everything is fine.
