The ground must already be a little warm, because germination only starts at 12°C. Germination will fail in soil that is too cold, and the seed laid out easily goes into rot. One covers only about 1 cm with soil and leaves only the strongest plant after emergence. Vegetable squash needs a clearance of 1 m x 1 m, Squash depending on the variety z.T. a plant distance up to 2 m.
