With the appropriate choice of sowing- and planting dates are available from late June to late September for harvestable broccoli.
To be able to harvest at the end of June, must be sown in a warm cold frame at the end of February or beginning of March. Because broccoli can be harvested over a longer period of time, only a few plants are usually sufficient. Cultivation is the same as for cauliflower. Around the end of April, the well-hardened young plants can be brought outdoors. Choose a planting distance of 50cm x 40cm to 50cm x 50cm. Covering with plant protection hoods or covering with foil until mid/end of May is recommended. Who wants a continuous harvest until the end of September, should choose two more planting dates; first planting at the end of May with sowing at the beginning of April on outdoor seedbeds and finally a third planting at the beginning to mid-July with sowing at the end of May/beginning of June.
