Early vegetable harvests can only be achieved on soils, that heat up quickly. Pure sand soils warm up quickly, but also give off the heat easily on cold nights. Humusreiche Sand- and loamy sandy soils, on the other hand, store the heat of the sun better and only release it again slowly.
