That's how the paint goes
The sealing is the culmination of every good cut. It protects the wood from moisture and to a certain extent also from mechanical damage, such as small stones. The sealing takes place in at least three steps, namely with priming and two coats of paint. The primer not only improves the adhesion of the paint, it also prevents through its elasticity, that the brittle lacquer tears open at the joints due to the movements of the wood. It is applied with a brush and roller and then takes about two hours to dry. You can pour the varnish directly from the bottle onto the floorboards (1), Carefully spread the edges with the brush (2) and distribute smoothly over the surface with the roller. To apply the paint evenly to about 100 apply g/sqm, the parquet specialist Bona has developed a special roller, which has two lateral panes (2). The prevent, that the roll can be pressed too hard, so that you always work with the same pressure and the same amount of paint. Always work parallel to the floorboards when varnishing, never diagonally or across. Prevent small plastic shoe covers, leaving streaks on the paintwork.
between first
and second coat of paint, sand down the surface. Use the single disc machine again, the green polishing pad and a 120 sanding grid. Keep the machine in constant motion.
The care package from Bona: After about two weeks treat the freshly sealed floor with a polish, which you should remove and replace about every two years. There is a stain remover.
