In terms of soil and climate, celery has similar demands as celeriac.

However, it thrives best in a somewhat warm and sheltered location and in high humidity. Celery prefers easily reheated ones, lehmige Sand- and sandy loam soils. It also brings good yields on peat soils and alluvial loam soils. Heavy loamy soil and sandy soil are not very suitable for growing celery. With regard to crop rotation, the same principles must be observed as with celeriac.
