The Marburg wallpaper factory is completely redefining the otherwise brittle wall covering. It makes the wallpaper shine. The system, consisting of transformer, light strips, current-carrying copper strips and of course wallpaper can be installed on any surface – we show you, how it goes.
Even the name of this product sounds like a work of art: Art Luminaire from the Art Tee collection. And the effect, which can be reached with the glowing stripes, becomes – allegedly – enchant every Seibermacher. But what is behind it??
The light installations are based on wallpaper with a grainy granulate effect surface, combined with metallics- or painted surfaces in a regular arrangement. This results in three different patterns, that the painted surfaces are designed as horizontal or diagonal stripes or as squares. The patterns are repeated at a distance of 90 cm.
But until the luminous work adorns your apartment, you still have a little work to do. On the next page we show, how the wallpaper is made to glow.
The new wallpaper with the light effects is best used selectively, such as here with a home cinema wall. Therefore selectively, because, firstly, the luminous wallpaper can be staged in the most beautiful way, secondly, a room completely wallpapered with it would look too much like a disco and thirdly, all the material could easily eat a hole in your household budget. (You can find the prices on the top right.)
Back to our home cinema: The basic framework consists of a 16 mm thick blockboard, those of 2 x 4 cm thick strips is framed. It stands out well from the rest of the room wall and comes to the fore as a design element. The cavity behind the plate is ideally suited, for example to accommodate the cables from the television and Dolby Surround system or a stereo system.
That's why we used blockboard, because it has a soft top veneer, in which the small copper pins of the light strips do not break off so easily (see image 10 and 11). Because: Is such a contact pin broken once?, the light strip is unusable. No complaining or soldering will help. The next step is this, to glue the wallpaper together with the current-carrying copper strips to the base plate that has been created in this way (see working photos on the right). The shelves are two Ikea models from the "Lack" series. So that the satellite receiver can stand securely, we have the shelves with a pine wood strip in depth 4 cm expanded. The bottom shelf is made from two table legs sawn off ("Curry" from Ikea) supports, because the TV with its weight of over 30 kg would have been too heavy for this construction.
1 On the 16 mm thick blockboard (121 x 250 cm) turns on at the back for reinforcement 2 x 4 cm thick frame made of wooden strips glued on.
2 Lassen Sie die untere Leiste 2 cm, so that the cable has room here later. See image 9.
3 Die Tapete wie gewohnt mit Stahlschiene und Cutter zuschneiden.
4 Die Kupferbänder, which bring the current to the light elements, have an adhesive backing. Glue the copper strips to the marked fields on the back of the wallpaper and press them down with a seam roller. Let the straps down by about 5 cm.
5 Die Tischlerplatte mit Tapetengrund streichen, so that the wallpaper also holds.
6 + 7 Is the primer dry?, a vertical marking line is drawn exactly in the middle of the wooden panel. This allows the wallpaper to be easily applied in the middle. Now paste the surface with "Methylan direct and non-woven wallpaper paste".
and put the wallpaper on immediately.
8 Die Tapete wird auch um die Seiten der Holzplatte herumgeklebt. Because the adhesive power of the paste is not strong enough, to hold the thick wallpaper around two edges, double-sided tape is used in this area.
9 Wenn der Kleister trocken ist, the wallpaper can be wired. To do this, attach the clips to the copper strips as described in the instructions.
10 Die Leuchtelemente verfügen über zwei kleine Metallstifte, which must be in contact with the live copper strip. Because these pins break easily, small holes must be pre-drilled or punched.
11 Die Leuchtstreifen anbringen.
12 Haben Sie alle Elemente zum Leuchten gebracht, a skirting board is installed, hiding the cable.
13 tip: Lead the cables of the electrical devices through a hole in the cavity of the plate and hide them!
Do you want to use table sockets and lay power lines, then consult a professional.
