STEN as a TV cabinetJust a Sten shelf (174 cm high) is in our TV furniture. How many borders you need, depends, everything else you want to put in it apart from the television. Other building materials are wooden panels for the sides and doors, a few boards or leftover glued panels for the bases, Louvre door hinges and magnetic latches.
You can do without door handles, since the opening for the television also provides a "handle" for the doors. When the shelf is assembled and set up, you immediately determine the correct heights and distances between the floors for the television set. Only then can the cutouts be marked in the doors. (For devices, which is noticeably wider than about 50 cm are, this suggestion is not suitable, since the remaining width of the doors and thus their stability would be too small.) Who owns a VCR, the opening should be larger, so that the remote control also works there.
Also, be careful, that the built-in television still gets enough air and does not get too hot. A rear panel is also superfluous with this cabinet, if it is provided with a support cross at the back or screwed to the wall.
How to design the furniture surfaces, is left to your taste. Our cabinet sides and doors (out of 16 mm thick blockboard) we have with a granite effect paint from Fleckstone (with. B. to get in obi markets) coated. It is applied in one spray after priming. Finally, the surfaces are sealed with clear varnish.

Be used as closet sides 10 mm thick chipboard prepared. Screw on the fastening strips at the level of the shelves. The door edges are "trimmed". (also on the cutouts) with wallpaper strips. Consider the thickness when cutting the door! A special paint from the spray can creates the granite effect. Prime doors and sides with gray primer beforehand. Out of 19 mm thick boards are glued to small boxes, which come on the right and left as a plinth under the cupboard. The doors are attached with three hinges each. So that they don't apply too much, let them in on the upright shelf.
