Staircase renovation in no time: Almost all floor coverings can be laid on old stairs with the Alufix profile system.

Old stairs can be easily renovated with the Alufix profile rail. In the previous episode, the installation of the step system with 8mm laminate flooring was shown. However, the Alufix profile is not limited to specific material thicknesses, so that it also with engineered parquet, Carpeting, Linoleum or PVC is easy to process as a step covering.

Covering strips with grooves are available for ready-made parquet to cover the step edge. They come in maple, Lures, oak and beech. They are pushed into the profile system.

Completely modern with PVC
Renovation is also very easy with PVC flooring. The step dimensions are roughly transferred to the PVC floor and the step outlines are then cut out. It is easier to cut the floor covering with PVC than with wood, because no templates have to be taken from the steps here. As with the laying of PVC floors, the step covering is simply pressed firmly onto the cut edges and cut to size with a cutter knife.

The steps must be free of old coverings and adhesives or similar. being. The step is now coated with special adhesive for PVC floors and the cut covering is glued. The Alufix profile that has been sawn to size is screwed to the front of the step. To cover the Alu-fix profile edge, a PVC strip is glued directly onto the profile or into the clip profile, which is then clamped into the Alufix profile.

Carpeted solutions
Carpeting is only suitable to a limited extent as a step covering in apartment buildings, as it is quickly damaged by heavy use. in one- and two-family houses, carpeting is not usually used that much. Here it is not just an inexpensive rubber alternative, but it opens up a greater variety of designs thanks to the large number of designs available. Another advantage of carpeting compared to rigid coverings is the high level of footfall sound insulation. A long-pile carpet will always lead to significantly better insulation results than a step covering made of ready-made parquet or laminate.
Carpeting can also be processed well with the Alufix profile. Installation is similar to that of PVC: Step by step is roughly cut and then brought into the exact shape on the stairs with the cutter knife and then neatly glued.

It is also worth using the clip profile to cover the step when using carpeting. Although you can 5 cm wide carpet strips with glue or carpet tape directly onto the Alufix profile. However, the more appealing result is achieved with the clip profile.

Another benefit of carpeting: It can be processed faster. With soft coverings you have to. Calculate half an hour per level. Parquet and laminate quickly add up to an hour per step.

Worn Steps
stair steps, which have leaked out after many years of use, must be straightened with the additional U profile, so that the Alufix step edge profile has an optimal and straight contact surface. This is the only way to ensure that the profile is held securely on the heavily loaded edge.
