The task of the odor traps (Traps) is always the same regardless of its various forms: You must prevent harmful sewer gases from entering the home. Therefore, part of the water poured into the sink always remains at a certain level in the trap. If a spout is not used for a long time, the water in the odor trap evaporates, and the gas barrier effect is eliminated. A bad odor then makes itself felt in the apartment.
Eliminate blockages
■ Pumpfix
cause: Mostly sit coffee- or tea ground, vegetables- and leftover potatoes stuck in the lower crease.
Slight blockages can be removed with the Pumpfix. A few short pushes are usually enough, to clear the drain (picture 1). When pumping, the overflow must be closed with a rag, to switch off secondary air.
The pump fix doesn't help, you have to remove the odor trap cap (picture 2) screw off. Bathtub traps also have cleaning openings (picture 5). A rubber trap is easy to handle; Blockages are removed by vigorous "walking through". (picture 7).
Glutos
cleaning spirals, borrowed from repair centers, are to be used with great caution, because it can easily damage the porcelain basin. Avoid sharp kinks, otherwise the spiral will be destroyed or. stuck. When guiding the spiral you have to work with "feeling"..
