All children like trucks. To sleep in it too, is the greatest adventure. A building pleasure for long winter evenings. Naturally, anyone can buy a bunk bed. But for such an adventure bed in the shape of a truck, for that you need a do-it-yourselfer in the family and the idea of a self-made reader, according to whose specifications we have developed this bed. In addition to the high play value, the bed is also optimal in terms of its functions.
Have the children outgrown the play age?, the driver's cab can be removed and set up separately. And the bunk bed becomes two identical single beds. The drawers behind the wheels are also practical, they offer space for bedding or lots of toys. Finally, the top bed's dropboards can be easily removed.
A curtain turns the lower bed into a play den, and it offers your children the opportunity too, to withdraw. Then when the truckers go on tour, this curtain is the tarpaulin, which protects the load on the platform. The tarpaulin lettering shows everyone, who are the bosses of the forwarding agency.

Solid pine wood in the form of glued panels in thicknesses 1,8 and 2,8 cm and glued wood supports 5,5 x 3,5 cm as well 5,5 x 5,5 is the building material for our children's room furniture. You should create a parts list yourself based on the drawing, or have our construction plan sent to you (see box on page 15), where you can find this list and many more details about the construction.
The two identical beds consist of firmly glued frames, which become bunk beds by inserting intermediate pieces. Screw straps attached from the inside hold beds and spacers together. Beds and cab are made without glue, only held together by screws.

So that you can set up the whole bed freely, the cab doors on both sides can be opened. For safety reasons, the upper bed gets fallboards all around, which, however, can easily be removed again, if the bed is set up separately later. Then the upper bed also needs legs, which are attached crosswise at the head and foot end.

Most of the connections of the components of the bed are at right angles. They are screwed and dowelled with flat- and round dowels easy to manufacture. A little more problematic is the connection on the sides of the

A self-made jig helps with gluing
front frame, because the upper part is inclined. The inclination corresponds to an angle of 17 City. If you have a table saw with an adjustable miter fence, you can cut the parts directly (cutting angle 8,5 City). if not, musk-
determine and mark the oblique cutting lines, by laying out the parts cut to length according to the drawing on the floor.

A jig is required to glue these parts together, that you can build from leftover wood. You need clamps to press the glued parts of the beds and the driver's cabin 100 cm clamping length or straps, that go around the entire component.

Now if you want to know more about it: Everything is in the blueprint.
