A row puller is preferable to the usual garden string for marking the rows on the beds on heavy soils.
Plant- or sowing rows are usually marked with a garden twine. However, it is only suitable for lighter soil types. The cord must not be too thin. Ordinary twine is unsuitable. On heavier soils, a cord leaves too few traces when it is tied off, so that one cannot plant or sow exactly. In these cases, a row puller is used, which you can easily make yourself out of wood. The specialist trade offers row pullers made of metal, which are particularly valuable due to the adjustability of the tines.
