Three great effects in the garden: the beautifully bordered pond, the bubbling fountain and the romantic water staircase.
Ready-made ponds are all the rage and are already at home in many gardens. We don't just follow a fad, but equip our ornamental pond with four special features: On the one hand, with its strictly square shape, it is recognizable as a decorative element made by human hands – without the try, to replace a piece of nature. Secondly, this effect is supported by the attractive terrace slabs, surrounding it all around. point three: the water staircase, a highlight, not just the eye, but also pleases the ear with its splashing. Fourth, the fountain does the rest, so that the pond becomes the center of attraction.
On the following pages we explain the structure, which takes place in two steps.
Insertion of the prefabricated pool
The square pond bowl with 1,74 m edge length (water surface: that. 1,70 x 1,70 m) and a height of 50 cm is made of GRP, i.e. made of almost indestructible fiberglass.
It is not thought of, equip the pond with aquatic plants, it just doesn't have enough space for that. But if you want to cover up the strict geometry with a little green, can put some plants in bowls or pots on the edge of the pond.
For installation: First mark out the square, then the pit 50 Dig cm deep with a spade. The excavation, about three cubic meters of soil, is used for the plant of the hillock, on which the water staircase rests. Be careful when lifting, that the pond has a conical shape. Fill any cavities that arise with sand and compact them.
A sheltered place against the backdrop of a few trees or bushes is best suited for installing the pond shell. First mark the position of the basin with the spade, then the pit 50 cm deep. Align the basin with the spirit level. Space is already being created for the terrace slabs: One around the edge of the pond 40 cm wide stripes 15 cm deep. Fill the edge strip with light-colored laying sand. Do not use sand containing clay, that would color the light concrete slabs! Check the position of the pelvis on all four sides. Tamp down the sand in the cavity between the pool and the pit with a slat. First fill the tank only halfway with water, to realize, if it sits down. Corrections are still possible without any problems.
Installation of the water ladder and the edge attachment
For the border 19 Concrete patio slabs (with finely ground granite surface) second hand, 40 x 40 cm tall and 4,5 cm thick, in addition to white, there are also four in black. There are also four square plates for the steps, plus eight pieces in format 40 x 20 cm. For the risers, we have Steinmetz made of the same material 6 cm wide strips.

The first slabs are laid out at a corner of the pond basin – close together and projecting a little over the edge of the basin. The stairs at the back corner of the pond. Between the two angle plates – Corner plate missing! – the hose is passed through. Build the steps of the water staircase into the mound of earth with a sand base. The riser strips 2 to 3 reset cm. Taking the top tier will be between two 18 cm long and 6 cm-wide strip of stone laid the hose coming from the pump. Visible from the good: The edge plates of the steps are angled slightly upwards, so that the water does not run off sideways. All joints are sealed with sanitary silicone (colorless or white) sprayed out. Don't forget the slots to the edge plates!
There are various options for equipping the water features – is after, whether an almost noiseless water bell or a splashing fountain is preferred.
There are two pumps in our pond, one for the water stairs, the second for the fountain, so that they can be operated independently. The performance of the pump depends on the desired throw height of the fountain and is between 25 and 65 Watt.

Who has small children, but doesn't want to do without a pond, should secure it with steel grid supports. Strong ones are also possible, nets tied to the shore. Also think about animals: A board on the bank is enough, so e.g. B. a squirrel finds out again.
