Every day on the balcony is like a little vacation. Of course, the weather has to play along. And a little comfort can't hurt either. We give eleven tips, what you can do about it. Beverage crates with empty bottles, Pigeon nests between fallen flower pots, drying rack, which have not been used for months and are no longer usable: All of this doesn't exactly encourage it, to spend pleasant hours on the balcony. Even in such a blatant case, a kind of living room for the summer can be conjured up from the storage space on a weekend. You can achieve a lot with plants. Then of course you need a seat, plus a small table…
On the following pages you will find plenty of suggestions.
A tip on that: Get permits (of the landlord) a, before making any installations, drill into the house wall or your balcony parapet.
There are actually three ideas in our first suggestion: Once you can build a decorative trellis for climbing plants, also a hiding place for folding chairs, and when you need the chairs and swing the trellis sideways in front of the balcony railing, thirdly, you have privacy from your neighbors. Trellis and roles are bought, everything else is just self-made.
The trellis becomes a hiding place for folding furniture
Pressure treated boards are the building material, from which the planter is first nailed together. Set the boards apart!
Side parts and base can also be screwed together. That has the advantage, that the box can be dismantled later at any time.
Two buck- and two castors make the box mobile. Depending on the swiveling direction, screw on the castors either on the left or on the right.
Lateral boards next to the trellis widen the trellis and hide the side view. Can be painted before assembly. Short furniture legs made of painted steel are screwed onto the upper crossbeam behind the trellis to serve as hooks for the folding chairs.
A concrete paving slab can be placed at the bottom of the planter as ballast. This results in the depth measurement. You can set the width yourself – depending on the parking space next to your balcony door. With a width of approx 80 cm, a square mortar bucket fits into the box as a planter.
Swiveled once, the hidden furniture next to the balcony door becomes a view- and windbreak.
The denser the planting, the better worked.
