The most dangerous disease in potatoes is late blight (Phytophthora), which also affects tomatoes in wet summers. To prevent the risk of transmission from the potatoes to the tomatoes, the potato herb must be completely destroyed. Often there are only minor signs of illness, most of which are not even noticeable. If such potato weed ends up on the compost heap, can the spores of the fungi under favorable conditions, z.B. when wet, warm weather, reach the tomato plants very easily due to the air movement and develop there.
