Low weight and high stability make multi-wall sheets an ideal building material. A prerequisite for a good work result is processing appropriate to the material.
Whether the web plate made of PVC, acrylic (with. B. Plexiglas) consists or unbreakable (with. B. Macrolon) is, the processing is basically the same. However, dissolving adhesives must be precisely matched to the material. Applies to machining: sharp, carbide-tipped cutting edges, low feed and the avoidance of excessive frictional heat. In principle, all tools can, which is also used when processing hard wood, be used.
Observe material expansion
Plastics are subject to strong material movements with temperature fluctuations. Web plates must always be fastened in this way, that there is no train- or pressure loads can occur. Expansion joints and, in the case of screw fastenings, large bores with covering washers are to be provided. Sliding clamp fastenings have proven to be the best.
Deformation with heated air
The plastics, from which multi-wall sheets are made, are thermoplastics. They are therefore deformable under the influence of heat. On special folding benches, which heat the material in strips, you can bend multi-wall sheets at any angle. With a trick, this can also be done with simple means. One side of the board is sawn out between two ridges and the other side is heated and bent with a heat gun.
Consider load capacity
Web sheets are available up to 1,2 m width and in lengths up to 6 m. Certain widths may not be exceeded for roofing, because the panels would not bear the snow load. Depending on the material and thickness, the load-bearing capacity is also different. Technical data sheets and instructions from the panel manufacturers provide information on this.
