play and keep things organized – The big three times eight

tent, cloakroom or grocery store. All of this can be our building proposal made of eight round wooden sticks or broomsticks. A structure, which can be stowed away in a space-friendly manner.

If Winnetou had lived in the tent, then certainly in one of Seiber Machen! Because the construction is very simple, made quickly, quickly folded up again and stowed away to save space. Take four wooden sticks of diameter 30 mm and in 165 cm length, connect two at a time with carriage bolts, so that two crosses are created and screw them together with two at the bottom 100 cm long rods. So that the foldable construction does not fall apart, holes are drilled at the very bottom of the rods. A cord is pulled through and knotted. The last 100 cm long bar is placed loosely on the crosses from above.

The tent track: Sew the two tent parts according to our pattern on the next page. Be careful though, that previously the fabric panels around about 2 cm, so they get a clean finish. Finally, the eyelets for the tent doors are hammered into the fabric and the fabric is decorated with Indian patterns. And if it should no longer be the Indian tent, the building can quickly be converted into a shop or a cloakroom.

Structure with seven round rods

One of the most important and at the same time trickiest tasks in this construction is the marking of the…

1 Stabmittellinie. She is needed, to drill the holes for the carriage bolts and blind holes in the bottom crossbars. So build a small, simple template: A small block of wood, who is half as thick, like the round stick (30 mm), will be at a rate of 30 mm attached to a board. Now place the rod in the template, the center line can be easily marked.

Pre-drill and additionally secure with a screw.

Making the tarpaulins

So that the tent tarpaulins hold well on the wooden frame, Both eyelets and a cord as well as fabric straps are attached.

1 The eyelets are available as a complete set with the corresponding riveting tool in hardware stores and department stores in the haberdashery. The eyelets are then hammered in at regular intervals with a hammer and the supplied riveting tool. The nylon cord will be threaded through here later.

2 Die indianischen Muster, which we have taken over from original models (namely square with central oval and triangles, arranged in a rectangle), can be applied to the fabric with a small sponge or with the tried and tested potato print.

3 Approximately 20 cm long straps are sewn onto the fabric panels.
