Bottle corks are first punched out of the bark, the leftovers from cork production are then ground into cork grist. Highly compressed and infused with a binder, shredded cork is the starting material for cork parquet.

Cork parquet is usually sold in slabs 4 and 6 mm thickness and different formats. The panels become firmly attached to the subsoil, that one, must be stable and dry (z.B. cement screed, Plasterboard, chipboard), glued. You should use a dispersion adhesive for this, which is water soluble. It makes sense, Lay out the panels loosely in the room one day before processing, so that they can reach the same temperature. The adhesive is applied with a notched trowel. After the tiles have aired, lay them in the adhesive bed and press them down firmly with a roller. You should rework the panel joints with a seam roller. For those who find the gluing of panels too tedious, he can e.g. B. cork parquet (Cork-o-Floor) Select, in which a cork layer is connected to an MDF board. The floorboards are laid floating, even on soft subfloors such as carpeting. Just glue tongue and groove.
