Mixer taps and drain valves

In recent years, the mixer taps have been subject to multiple design changes. Apart from this, that since 1966 in industrial housing the porcelain batteries by the model 2213 S in chrome finish (picture 1) were replaced, reduced the center distance of the cold- and hot water pipe from original 135 to 165 mm up 35 to 55 mm. The matching mixer tap (picture 2) produced by the fittings factory in Eisenberg. Irrespective of these technical changes, however, all mixer taps with the standardized upper section described on the previous pages are LAN 57 stocked, so that repair work regarding the replacement of the sealing materials can be carried out in accordance with the explanations on the pages. Kitchen table faucets from the Eisenberg fittings factory (picture 3), which are still equipped with old upper parts and porcelain hand stars, can be through the standard model LAN 57 Glutos.

If the connection on the right is desired (picture 1), the following actions must be carried out:Unscrew the lens head screw on the changeover handle and unscrew the handle by turning it to the left. After plugging in a 10 mm thick pin into the hose connection as far as it will go (3) the part can be opened with a Mer key 5 unscrew mm, until under lifting the part 3 can be rotated 180° without violence.

taps (water outlet valves) are also available in the households in a wide variety of designs. Their functional principle is the same in each case, as can be seen from the sectional model of the indestructible brass tap (picture 6): When turning the hand spindle to the left, the valve disk is lifted, which allows the water to flow out; when turning to the right, the plate with the sealing washer is pressed firmly onto its seat.

Replacing seals

In older versions of water outlet valves, the stuffing box seal is still a so-called packing, z.B. at the brass tap in the picture 6. In the event of a leak, it is usually sufficient, tighten the gland nut; however, this is already tightened to the last thread turn, must remove the old pack (picture 7) and exchanged for a new cord of tallow.
