Gable windows are closest to the sun due to their location under the roof and are difficult to shade due to their shape. But nothing is impossible: We present shade solutions for unusual windows.
1 The axis of rotation of the compartment rails is a short threaded rod, anchored to the wall with a brass dowel. The nuts keep the distance to the wall, the more you turn it up, the greater the distance. The wing nut fixes the rails.
2 Den Dübel stecken Sie mit knapp eingedrehtem Gewindestab ins Bohrloch. There you spread the dowel, by screwing in the rod over the nut and lock nut as far as it will go. The drill hole must be thoroughly vacuumed beforehand.
3 Die Aluschienen fixieren Sie beim Bohren mit Holzzulagen unter dem Bohrständer, so that the four holes are exactly congruent.
vertical slats: The one with the twist
Vertical blinds consist of 90 to 130 mm wide fabric slats, which are pulled in front of the window and back again with one of their two cable pulls and adjusted vertically with the other (3). This technique also works on the incline, here the lamellae are only of different lengths. Disadvantage: When pulled together, the blinds form quite thick "packages", which then hang next to the windows. For sloping windows, this is the longer side, that is, the one next to the apex of the triangle. Vertical blinds on slopes are always custom-made.
All manufacturers provide instructions on how to measure. However, if the blinds do not fit during assembly, the manufacturer can always refer to measurement errors. tip: Have a professional measure you for a few more euros. You do the assembly yourself: dowel rails, hang the slats (1) and slide the chained weights into the loops below (2). Prices depend on design and quality. From approx 120 Euro / sqm. For self-assembly from approx 65 Euro / sqm.
pleats: Folds to the top
pleats, also called pleated blinds, are closed panels, which you unfold when needed and fold up when not needed. They are operated by laterally or centrally mounted pull ropes or rods. It is pulled using ropes on the lower rail, by the upward movement the fabric to about 20 mm width combined.
advantages: With this principle, the pleated blind is the most variable shading system, it can be customized to any shape, moreover, the bundles that are pulled together are very narrow. The fabrics can be ordered from transparent to almost opaque. The same applies here: It is better to have the windows measured by a professional, assembly is then no problem. Preis: about 70 euros/sqm shade.
The trick, with which the pleats also in triangle- and trapezoidal windows work: The lower end rail is buckled at precisely defined points by the upward pull and thus largely adapts to the shape of the frame. So the folded fabric lies flat and perfectly between rail and frame. In the case of polygonal window shapes, two pleated blinds are operated separately (see graphic below). caution: Some manufacturers only offer pleated blinds up to an angle of inclination of 30°.
