Anyone who wants to get really colorful at home, cannot avoid the use of paints. We show and explain to you, how to achieve perfect results with brush and roller and clear up the confusion of terms.
who furniture- or other surfaces painted, want one thing above all: a perfect one, smooth surface. On the other hand, anyone who has ever tried their luck with a brush or roller, usually knows something else: This is not so easy.
Actually it is. Only three things are crucial, if, for example, the furniture front is to look like it has been varnished by a professional. We would like to explain them to you below.
PRIME
Every paint surface can only be as smooth and even as the substrate. Smooth means for wooden surfaces, that they are ground in three passes, with the finest grit at least 120 amounts to. Solid wood surfaces are often washed with a damp cloth by professionals before the last sanding step, to straighten the wood fibers and break them up finely with the sanding. The edges are included. With MDF boards, the surfaces basically do not need to be sanded at all, but careful attention to the edges. They are coarser on the surface, which makes them thirstily suck up the applied paint. You can prevent that, by treating them either with a filling undercoat. Or you can use a so-called quick sanding base, with which you literally seal the edges. Important for both variants: They are carried out in addition to the normal primer and intermediate sanding! In addition, you should always paint the edges first when applying paint. You have the edge problem with Span- and OSB panels do not, because you can't paint them. Only plastic will help here- or solid wood edging.
TOOLS
For painting you have the choice between roller, brushes and spray cans. True, the latter are convenient, however, the seamless painting of large areas is difficult. In addition, a large part of the paint literally dissolves into thin air. It is important when spraying, always going over the edge, so that no approaches arise (graphic on the right).
Painting with a brush is something for experts, especially, if you want a smooth surface. Brushes are well suited for structuring the surface, which is sometimes required, as well as for painting profiled and poorly accessible surfaces. If you still want to paint with a brush, so you have to guide him back and forth (graphic on the right), so that the paint covers. For Seibermacher, the paint roller is still the right tool for smooth paint surfaces. The combination of roller and coating is important: Verwenden Sie für
Mohair rollers for synthetic resin paints and velour-flocked foam rollers for acrylic paints. The normal foam rollers are suitable for both types of paint, but do not ensure the best result for both.
