Handles, Lock levers and bearings are important parts of the window. This also applies to modern windows: The fittings need to be serviced.
The times, in what window by heavy, Throwing brackets or bolts visibly mounted on the window have been locked, are long gone. Since about 1960 concealed one-hand fittings are used almost exclusively, where except for the control lever, the handle, all hardware components are arranged in the window rebate and embedded flush. Such modern window fittings are complex mechanical units, which consist of many coordinated and interlocking individual parts. Each of these parts requires careful maintenance and care, so that the entire fitting can reliably perform its diverse tasks in the long term. • You must hold the window sash securely and immovably in its position in the frame and also withstand greater wind pressure.
• You must lock the window firmly and burglar-proof.
• They must guarantee simple and functional operation.
Burglary protection with lockable handles
Lockable operating levers can be mounted on every window. The lock can be used to lock the lever when the window is closed or open. Thereby it offers protection against burglars. When buying multiple levers, make sure you have the same key number, so that you only have one key for all windows.
Proper use
Window fittings are now high-tech products, which only then work properly, if all parts are in perfect condition and used as intended. Manufacturers are obliged by the Product Liability Act, only offer products, which can be used by the end user without any problems after appropriate instruction. For this reason, a brochure with detailed operating instructions and comprehensive maintenance is now included with every window- and care regulations. This brochure is an important accessory, it should be read carefully and kept, the instructions and regulations should always be observed. In the event of non-compliance with these regulations or in the event of obvious misuse, the manufacturer is released from any liability.
Regular maintenance
Modern windows only have very small dimensional tolerances. Even greater temperature fluctuations can lead to this, that a window jams or is difficult to operate. Plastic windows in particular have summer- and winter dimensions. They may have to be readjusted several times.
Newly installed windows must generally be around two to four weeks after installation, when they are seated in the building, to be corrected.
In order to maintain the functionality of the hardware and to protect the individual parts from wear, every window should in principle immediately, if a functional impairment becomes noticeable, be readjusted, to avoid consequential damage to other hardware components. Thanks to the large number of different adjustment options on the fittings, any deficiency found can be remedied immediately with minimal effort.
