A balcony shelf like a locksmith

She's doing something: a balcony shelf made of stainless steel. But we don't want to fool you: What you see on the right, is custom made by a locksmith. If you don't have professional tools, can't build something like this myself – unless, he uses softer material for it.

You can see the solution for Seibermacher on the other illustrations. Several strips of aluminum sheet, as you can get it in different decors in the hardware store, are folded uniformly and hung side by side on the balcony parapet as shelves. Unlike the hard steel solution, this construction is not self-supporting. To stiffen it needs a substructure (s. drawing). When he's done, you can take measurements to bend the aluminum sheets. Silicone sealant from the cartridge is recommended for fastening to the board and for sealing the joints between the individual sheet metal strips.

balcony box holder, a board and a slat serve as a substructure and give the shelf made of aluminum sheet sufficient stability.

Aluminum sheet is easy to bend. Mark the edge and clamp the sheet between two slats, that the line is just visible. Using a mallet and hammer, fold close to the line. The lower edge can be rounded off evenly, by bending the sheet metal over a round rod. By the way, it is recommended, to bend this lower end of the balcony shelf first.
