Where to put the computer workstation? In the living room he disturbs, but in sleep-, better still in the guest room would be enough space. You can use the space reserves with multifunctional furniture and space-saving installations. And when the work is done, the focus is again on the bed. We make three easy-to-implement suggestions.
Workplace between two cabinets
The supporting structure of this construction are two wardrobe elements from Ikea („Pax“, 201x50x60 cm, 89 Euro), whose mirrored doors optically enlarge the room. The workplace between the cabinets is 160 cm wide. Half of it is taken up by the folding table. Table and shelves are made of coated chipboard. The table top is attached to a double shelf with a piano hinge. The shelves rest on supports of the wall shelf rails.

Mini office behind sliding doors
This sliding door system shows its true size. Installed from wall to wall, It's not just the clothing that disappears behind it, but also a small workplace. The aluminum door profiles run on rails, which are mounted on the ceiling and on the floor. These systems are available as a kit (275 x 60 cm ab zirka 300 Euro, Manufacturer in service box). With the fillings you can choose between glass, Choose wood or metal. Chipboard door panels are cheaper and easier to make yourself, which you either wallpaper, to brush, cover or cover with fabric. We have roughly structured impact sound insulation for the doors (1,60 Euro / sqm) used, which are available off the roll in hardware stores. Two shelves only frame it 45 cm deep work table. A keyboard pull-out is attached under the table top (50 euros at Ikea).

Home office between closet and wall
This is where the mini office becomes a sensible stopgap. This variant can be reproduced quickly, because the set of three consists of MDF boards (19 mm), which are butt glued and can be pushed together to save space after the office closes. The computer desk is 85 cm, the keyboard table 75 cm high. The smallest unit has a height of 45 cm and can be used as a shelf or stool. The height of the sliding door depends on the cabinets, which the frame must surpass by a few centimetres. The overhang serves as an aperture, it covers the guiding mechanism. The frame of the sliding door will be off 8 cm wide strip of blockboard and covered with fabric. It slides easily back and forth on two large wheels.
