What use is the most beautiful kitchen conversion, when the wall behind it is more reminiscent of a crater landscape than a smooth tiled shield. The solution: A niche cladding made of frosted glass panes (Ikea) hides unsightly tiles and offers space for small, effective lighting. In our case, this is a light tube, available by the meter along with accessories in well-stocked hardware stores (4Euro/m). However, this play of light does not replace the necessary illumination of the worktop, you with clamp- spots or recessed spotlights.
1 Fix the U-shaped aluminum strip to the worktop with double-sided adhesive tape and use it to clamp the light tube to the wall.
2 Pre-paint the wooden strips notched at the bottom and folded at the sides silver. They are bolted to the wall, the discs serve as spacers. Short adhesive strips on the marked drilling points secure the drill against slipping on the tile surface.
3 Place the glass panes in the U-rail and against the folds of the wooden strips. With pre-drilled straight aluminum rails, which you screw to the wooden strips, secure the discs.
