Sometimes it shines sky blue, sometimes it glitters silvery, dark or dull gray: Sitting by the water and watching the reflective surface never gets boring. ponds, streams, small pools or water features bring life to the garden and increase its relaxation- and recreational value. Let yourself be seduced – we show you, how to properly plan and build your favorite body of water.
Foil ponds of all sizes
Liner ponds offer the most design options, because foil can easily be glued together from several strips to any desired shape. Pond extensions are not difficult either, because only the water level needs to be lowered a bit and a new piece glued on. To determine shape and size, you put a cord as a contour to the ge-
desired positions. The area should be as large as possible, thus despite flat embankments (at most 30°) a depth of 1 m is reached. Recommended are a water surface of 20 sqm and a wide swamp zone.
How to calculate the size of the slide: greatest length + double depth + 1 m for the swamp zone x greatest width + double depth + 1 m for the swamp zone.
1 When the trough is staked out, you start at the later deepest point with the excavation.
2 A paving slab is inserted into the embankment for the pump.
3 The film usually has to be put together. Here it is bonded with solvent welding agent.
4 Boards protect the edge of the pond, when the foil is pulled into the pit.
5 Wrinkles don't bother you (Cables and hoses disappear inside). Sharp edges are smoothed.
6 The pond is initially half filled with water, so that the foil sets.
7 The deep water plants can now be used.
8 Finally, the edge is weighted down with sod or stones, the outer edge pulled up and cut off.
