After the winter, the lawn needs air and new strength, so that it can get going again quickly.

After thorough raking, it shows, how the lawn survived the winter. Felt and moss have mostly spread, which are combed out with the scarifier. Deeper than 2 to 3 cm, the floor should not be scratched.

Heavily moss-covered lawns indicate compacted or too acidic soil (pH below 5,5). It is loosened with the digging fork or the aerating device. If the pH value is too low, the lawn is limed. Never fertilize at the same time, otherwise the fertilizer becomes ineffective.

Lawn fertilizer provides fresh energy. He strengthens the grasses, so that small gaps quickly fill up and moss is pushed out. Lawn start fertilizer gives the lawn a quick boost, Slow-release fertilizer is handy, because it releases nutrients throughout the season. Large bald spots are re-sown; there are special seeds for that, for example Novaplant (wolf garden) or reseeding lawn (Compo).
The aerator has round tines, leaving deep holes, which are then filled with coarse sand.

Mountains of moss and thatch accumulate when scarifying. By scratching, the soil becomes more permeable and the grass roots get air.

A spreader helps, spread the fertilizer evenly over the lawn. Only special lawn fertilizer should be used.

the fertilizers, that are otherwise used in the garden, cause the grass to grow in length, which means frequent mowing and lots of clippings.
