Mowing and fertilizing are not enough: A lawn only looks properly cared for with clean edges. Special scissors and trimmers are practical tools. However, lawn care is much more convenient with mowing edges, as we show them on these pages.
The demarcation between bed and lawn is more than just a question of appearance. The clean edge prevents that, that grasses grow into the bed and spread out between the flowers. Perennials, onion- and summer flowers can only hold their own against such competition and the colorful discounts will soon be over.
The simplest remedy is to do this, regularly parting the edges. That is a lot of work and has the unpleasant side effect, that the mower can only be driven to the edge of the lawn, because otherwise the two outer wheels would end up in the ditch. The stalks at the edge would have to be trimmed again with scissors or a trimmer after mowing.
Therefore, an edge firmly embedded in the floor is much better. The outer wheels of the mower can run on it, and the lawn can be cut cleanly in one operation. A little effort when installing the edge is worthwhile, because in the long run it saves a lot of work.
Depending on the material, the edge needs a foundation made of sand or concrete, so that it doesn't sag. The deeper the edge goes into the ground, the more reliably it prevents the grass from growing through.
Winkelsteine
As a barrier, that keeps grass out of the bed, and the Varo roll angles act as a runway for the lawnmower. The stones are available as a wave profile and as a normal profile with a smooth top edge.
