How does DVB-T work?

Do you remember, than before about 20 years the CD started, peel off the vinyl? The pieces of music were recorded digitally, and it sounded great on the home stereo. That's what's going to happen with television now. The electronic signals from the cameras are converted into digital impulses according to a specific code, and at the end of the chain, at the viewer's home, these signals are then decoded by the "set-top box"..

New TV?

Everything, what you need to receive digital television, is one so-called set-top box per television. You can already get them 100 Euro. That's a kind of "putting box", as is already known from satellite reception, and it is also clamped between the antenna and the television set. So it doesn't have to be a new television set. Some device manufacturers such as Loewe have already set up their televisions in this way, that these receiver decoders can be installed directly as plug-in cards.

Mobile TV

Another advantage of terrestrial digital television is the transmission to mobile devices, who are in the car for example, Bus or train can be located. Of course, it's not just about watching TV in the car, but rather about additional data transmission for information, navigation- or security systems. But mobile battery-powered television sets will also find increasing numbers of friends, because you can use it to watch your favorite show in the garden or take the television set with you, where you are in the house, such as the kitchen, bath etc.

Analog TV
And what happens to the current analogue PAL television? More and more analogue stations are currently being switched off and it is planned as mentioned at the beginning, the transition from analog to digital 2010 to have completed.

CONCLUSION
True, all antenna receivers themselves will have a decoder (SetTop-Box) have to buy, but compared to switching to cable- or satellite reception is still the cheaper option. So let's look forward to a better sound- and image quality, up to 24 programs and interactivity. As I said: The future has already begun.
