wooden floors, who are getting old, need a "rub-down". Dirt and old layers of paint can only be removed by thorough sanding, that one again a level, get a smooth surface.
Admittedly, looking at the abrasive cork or the orbital sander in the tool cabinet is not exactly encouraging, 15 or 20 Square meters to tackle with it. But you don't have to give up and hide the wood under carpeting, because the right equipment for sanding can be borrowed. The high-gloss finish on a vibrant darkened wood grain isn't to everyone's taste. Some people like it lighter and some would also like to do without the "film" of the surface sealing.
These wishes are fulfilled by an alternative wood treatment and care method, which comes from Denmark and has been used there for decades. First, a softwood lye is applied with a roller and then brushed off. It emphasizes the grain and gives the wood a permanently light colour, “white scrubbed” patina. The surface is then treated with a wood floor oil (s. right) or with wooden floor soap. Both are natural or white.
This treatment makes the wooden floor resistant, without sealing it. Noticeable wood remains.
