Laser technology has simplified measuring and leveling more and more. The devices for this are now also affordable for do-it-yourselfers.
The tightly bundled laser light beam runs absolutely straight and its target point is clearly and sharply defined over large distances. Depending on the power of the laser diode and the quality of the optics, distances are up to 80 m possible. This applies to point lasers, which can be built into a precision spirit level or have an extra housing.
A lot of leveling work can be carried out with the spirit level model. With the help of a leveling plate (B) the spirit level can be rotated 360°. It is held on the center of the plate by a magnet. With a prism attachment, the beam can be deflected by 90° and also rotated.
A further development is the line laser. Its special optics create a line of up to 360°, That means, you can in one operation – also alone – Place mounting points or lines on all walls in a room, with the door open also in the adjoining room. More complex construction laser models work horizontally and vertically and offer point, lines- and rotation mode.
A cross laser provides optimal performance, who works with two optical systems. The device is set up and levels itself within a range of 5°. You can switch on the horizontal or the vertical line laser independently of each other, or both together. In this way, it projects exact positions onto the floor, wall and corner.
