Massive Hocker – Recycling of leftovers

Massive Hocker: You see them more and more often in design-oriented furniture stores, albeit for a lot of money. That's why we show you, how you can make an equally beautiful piece yourself from a few offcuts.

A problem, that every Seibermacher knows: In many construction projects, leftovers remain, that are too big or too good to throw away. But what to do with it? This plant stool, for example, can be made from beam sections. So quickly grabbed the saw and killed two birds with one stone: First, your wood waste will decrease, secondly, you are richer by a chic piece of furniture.

The production is very simple, because glue is quite sufficient to connect the seven parts. However, there are still a few rules to be observed when gluing. Use a flat surface, like an MDF board, so that the components can be glued exactly on one level and there are no too large overhangs. Place a piece of newspaper underneath, because when glue swells out of the joints, paper may stick to the stool, but not the plate.

Be sure to glue this way, as in photo 3 shown: First glue two legs plus block to the longer center piece, then the other two legs plus block. That's how it works!

1 Die Schnitt- or Saw lines on the square timbers are marked all around with a carpenter's square and a pencil. Who can make the cut with a table saw, has it easy, because sawing is done at right angles here. When working with a handsaw, however, the saw cut must be constantly checked, so he doesn't get out of hand.

2 Werkzeug-Tipp: With a saw guide (here: Bahco) the saw works its way through the wood at exactly the right angle.
