Bookends are indispensable in bookshelves, because the last book in the series often tends to, to lie on the side. Our circus clown provides the necessary support.
Books are always fun! always? Sometimes you have more, than the shelves can handle: Then they form piles on the floor in no time at all, and you trip over it. But if the shelves are big enough, you don't have it any better: At the end of each book series, books of poetry and novels alike tend to fall over. A particularly beautiful stone from the last beach holiday is often misused here or an unsightly sheet metal angle is used as intended.
But there is a third possibility: Do it Yourself! With some plywood, Glue and paint can make a couple of bookends in a few hours, who cut a fine figure even without books nearby. Enlarge the figure outlines on page 38 so, that the headboard about 18 cm high. By gluing the "figure discs" and the angled leg, the bookend gets the necessary width for its stability.
With that from the 13 mm thick plywood boards becomes the strong type for bookends, the paper templates are glued to the plywood boards, said, sanded and then glued. The color design of the bookend works best with acrylic paint, either according to our suggestions or according to your own ideas. Finally, apply a layer of clear varnish in any case, so that your new helper is also an easy-care type.
Carefully made paper templates are a prerequisite for this, that all parts of the figure fit later in their proportions. Enlarge the templates all by 290 percent, for example on the copier. Some copiers cannot do this in one step, then copy first 200 percent and the result again 145 percent.
1 Anyone who doesn't have the ability to copy, can the template with the help of a 1×1-Enlarge cm grid by hand.
2 The stencils are attached to the plywood with spray adhesive.
3 Is the glue dry?, saw them out with a jigsaw and a curve blade.
4 Now remove the templates with 80-grit sandpaper and smooth all edges and surfaces with 120-grit paper and a file.
5 Now the two fuselage parts are glued together. Then put glue on the support arm and leg, Pre-drill with a 3 mm drill bit and screw from behind.
6 Allow the glue to dry, and grind, where necessary, drops of glue gone.
7 White acrylic base coat is the primer for further beautification.
8 We painted our figure with acrylic varnish (Leftovers from the workshop) made a clown, but here everyone can realize their own ideas.
