Standard prefabricated stairs are easy to install, leading to the attic. There are two basic types here: a permanently installed or a movable loft ladder. Fixed attic stairs are available in small dimensions, so that they take up little space, as a spiral staircase, in straight or coiled form. In terms of equipment and design, hardly any wishes remain unfulfilled. Space saving- and small stairs may only be used within an apartment as access to the floor. Folding attic stairs do not require floor space in the downstairs room or hallway. They are – provided with a ceiling covering – practically invisible.

Simple folding stairs
Three-section folding stairways come complete with the folding hatch box 19 mm block board supplied. The operation of the stairs is quite simple. It is held closed by springs and can only be pulled down with a hook without much effort. Then the three elements are unfolded, and access to the floor is free. The accessories include an additional security against unauthorized opening of the hatch, a steel hatch box, where the bottom finish is fire retardant or fire resistant. There is a dust cover for installation in the floor space, which prevents the stairs from getting dirty when closed. Thermally insulated covers are available with a rubber seal.

Two-part slide-in stairs
In the case of two-part slide-in stairs, the lower, longer part of the stairs pushed over the upper part onto the hatch cover. The longer part requires about one meter of pivoting space in the floor space, which is in the unusable walking area. All attic stairs are available in standard sizes as ready-to-install elements, which are equipped with adjustable hinges as standard. This enables uncomplicated attachment of wooden paneling under the ceiling. Special designs and custom-made products have protruding hinges and an extended snap lock including a reinforced spring. There are three-sided hatch guardrails made of wood or aluminum with steel supports for the floor area.

Convenient scissor stairs
Aluminum die-cast scissor stairs offer a good solution for a safe ascent to the attic. The stairs can even accommodate up to 16 cm deep treads can be supplied. A corresponding opening size is then required for this design. Scissor stairs do not require pivoting space. They can be opened and closed almost noiselessly. The hatch and stairs are very easy to operate thanks to a weight balance. The steps are horizontal in almost every position and are secured against twisting by interlocking, the springs are relaxed when the hatch is closed. Scissor stairs can also be installed in wall openings and combined with doors, which allow normal headroom.
