The term motion detector is misleading, because the reporters, what this is about, are actually switches. But different from the well-known light- and device switches do not react to mechanical actuation, but on movements in their measuring range, which they use infrared rays, Microwaves or ultrasound find out. Most detectors are combined with a twilight sensor and a time switch. The shape and size of the devices depend on the desired range, the intended detection angle and the additional functions. In addition to fasteners for flat walls, there are adapters for inside- and outside corners as well as for attachment to ceilings and undersides of structures. Special detectors for ceiling mounting are equipped with sensors, which ensure a coverage of 360°. They are predestined for canopies, carports or pergolas.
To make it more difficult for burglars to carry out their criminal activities, motion detectors are also used in camouflaged form – for example in the light switch – with the necessary, separate electronics offered.

How is the detector installed??
