The compost- and all other heaps of earth must be laid out in a shady place.
Only then can the plant waste placed on the compost heap decompose quickly, when they are wet. In full sun they dry out and then remain unchanged for a long time, because the bacteria, involved in the decay, need moisture and are killed by the sun. Where a shady place under trees or bushes is not available, you have to shade the heaps in some other way. Use sunflowers or pumpkins. However, this must be taken into account, what is said under the advice. The compost heaps can also be placed on the north side of a wall.
