Eggplant

As relatives of the tomato, of the chilli and potato belongs the eggplant, also known as eggplant, to the nightshade family.

Under our conditions, the average growth height of the plants is 50 cm to 60 cm, but can under very favorable conditions 1 m and more. Depending on the variety, the egg- to cucumber-shaped fruits reach a length of 5 up to 30cm and have a smooth, slightly shiny and mostly dark violet colored skin.

The very tender and soft, yellowish- to greenish-white flesh is considered a tasty diet food especially for the stomach- and intestinal diseases. Eggplants can be used in many ways and actually belong on the table of every gourmet.
